UCLG launches the online GOLD VI Pathways to Equality Cases Repository

Unkategorisiert

Today, in the framework of the World Urban Forum, we publish a series of cases, or Case-Based Contributions (CBCs), exploring the ways through which local and regional governments as well as civil society groups are building pathways for urban and territorial equality. They are now online and available for download here

These cases, collected in the GOLD VI Pathways to Equality Cases Repository, are contributions from the UCLG commissions, committees and partners, civil society networks and members of the academia to the UCLG upcoming GOLD VI Report. The Report, which is the result of a partnership between UCLG and the Knowledge in Action for Urban Equality (KNOW) programme, aims to define and advance an urban and territorial equality agenda. Titled “Pathways to urban and territorial equality: Addressing inequalities through local transformation strategies”, it focuses on how local and regional governments, in partnership with the civil society, can address the local manifestations of growing inequalities through six interconnected pathways to equality: Commoning, Caring, Connecting, Renaturing, Prospering and Democratizing.

The contributions featured in the GOLD VI Pathways to Equality Cases Repository focus on the key themes and chapters of the GOLD VI Report and have been an essential component in its development. They give shape and meaning to the Report’s content and the pathways to equality, and have been critical in the conception of the key messages outlined. The launch of this repository is completely aligned with, and will provide critical inputs to, the World Assembly of Local and Regional Governments and other events held at the World Urban Forum 11, held in Katowice. The variety of contents and approaches to the local trends, challenges and opportunities for equality approached by the cases will definitely contribute to WUF 11’s main theme: transforming our cities for a better urban future.

The final GOLD VI Report will be launched during the UCLG World Congress that will be held in Daejeon, South Korea, on 10-14 October 2022. In the meantime, we hope that these contributions can be useful for disseminating practice beyond the scope of the GOLD VI Report.
